HANOVER, Maryland — As part of its mission to expand access to advanced manufacturing capabilities, Phillips Corporation is enhancing its Hybrid Division offerings at its Hanover showroom.

Phillips has purchased an M1 system from MX3D, a turnkey robotic 3D metal printing solution powered by Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) technology. The M1 is expected to be fully operational in early 2026.

“Bringing an M1 system into our showroom marks a significant leap forward in large-scale additive manufacturing for Phillips Hybrid,” said Alex Potts, Sales Manager, Phillips Corporation – Hybrid Division. “We’re excited to expand our technical capabilities and demonstrate real-world defense and industrial applications for wire arc additive using MX3D’s technology.”

The MX3D M1 enables industrial-scale metal printing through high deposition rates, complete control, and monitoring of the printing process, resulting in qualified part production runs. With its compact footprint design, the system produces medium-to-large metal parts faster, shortens lead times, and minimizes material waste—all while providing high-resolution data logging and adaptive process control, ensuring consistency and efficiency in every print.

The partnership between Phillips and MX3D marks a major step forward in accelerating the adoption of robotic Directed Energy Deposition (DED) across the aerospace, energy, maritime, defense, and heavy manufacturing industries. This collaboration combines Phillips’ extensive experience in federal and industrial integration, training, and support with MX3D’s state-of-the-art robotic WAAM systems and proprietary MetalXL software, making it easier for U.S. organizations to access and implement this transformative technology.

“The acquisition of an M1 by Phillips Corporation shows strong commitment to speed up the adoption of MX3D technology in the USA,” said Gijs van der Velden, CEO of MX3D. “By operating a machine locally, the Phillips team will be able to provide hands-on support based on their own experience, which is crucial as more and more customers begin using MX3D systems for 24/7 qualified production.”

As the exclusive U.S. distributor and service provider for MX3D, Phillips delivers turnkey access to this next-generation WAAM technology—complete with expert integration, training, and long-term technical support. Trusted globally by organizations such as the U.S. Army, BMW, and EMPA, MX3D’s award-winning M1 and MX Metal AM systems are redefining scalable metal additive manufacturing for a broad range of industries.

MX3D is a global leader in advanced robotic metal 3D printing, leveraging over a decade of expertise in the Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) process. Specializing in large-scale, qualified 3D metal printing, MX3D empowers industries such as energy, aerospace, and maritime with cutting-edge Metal AM Systems. With this technology, customers can replace casting and forging processes to solve quality issues and long lead times. MX3D is known for its MetalXL Software and turnkey Metal AM Systems—the standard M1 and custom-built MX—which deliver speed, quality, and scalability. Headquartered in Amsterdam, the company operates one of the largest robotic 3D metal printing facilities in the world. Visit www.mx3d.com for more information.
