Phillips Federal Set to Deploy Expeditionary Manufacturing Capabilities in Upcoming U.S. Marine Corps Field Exercise 

Camp Pendleton, CA — April 2026 — From April 28 to May 8, 2026, the 1st Maintenance Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force (I MEF) will execute a Field Exercise at Camp Pendleton focused on sustaining operations in austere environments and strengthening combat readiness. 

Phillips Corporation, Federal Division (Phillips Federal), will play a key role in the exercise by operationalizing advanced manufacturing capabilities at the tactical edge. These capabilities will enable Marines to perform critical maintenance and repair work and drone production directly in the field, accelerating mission readiness. 

In collaboration with its additive manufacturing partners, Phillips Additive Hybrid, EOS, Markforged, BigRep, and 3YOURMIND, Phillips Federal will lead a fully integrated expeditionary manufacturing ecosystem designed for forward-operating conditions. Technologies supporting the exercise include hybrid Wire Arc Hybrid Manufacturing (WAHM), the EOS M290 and EOS P 3 Next platforms, the Markforged X7, BigRep VIIO 250, and 3YOURMIND’s part identification and MES capabilities. 

Phillips Federal’s contribution is led by Patrick Tucker, Colonel, U.S. Marine Corps (Ret.), Strategic Business Development Manager at Phillips Federal, who previously served as a Regimental Commander within I Marine Expeditionary Force from 2018 to 2020.

Together, these solutions will demonstrate how advanced manufacturing can be deployed and integrated into real-world military operations to enhance sustainment, increase responsiveness, and improve operational flexibility. 

This exercise reflects the Marine Corps’ continued emphasis on rapidly adopting and integrating advanced technologies to support distributed operations.
