Phillips Federal: We go beyond software reselling – we operationalize the “M” in CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) by delivering training, posts, software setup, support, and applications expertise tailored to our government and military customers.
At Phillips Federal, our goal is to enable and support your mission. Mission outcomes and manufacturing capabilities are paramount. We understand that the success of your mission depends on more than software; you need operational capability. Phillips goes beyond selling CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software – we provide a comprehensive capability that empowers you to achieve your mission and enhance your shop’s productivity – we operationalize CAM.
Our goal is to integrate your people, equipment, and processes, into our training courses, not the other way around. Anyone can teach you how to mash buttons to create a toolpath, but driving the software itself is only part of establishing an operational capability. Phillips Federal offers a distinct experience: we send Certified Applications Engineers to train your people how to cut your parts, on your machines, in your facility.
Tailored Post-Processing for Mission Assurance
Phillips Federal’s commitment to the success of the Department of Defense (DoD) extends to the very core of the manufacturing process. We deliver innovative CAD/CAM technology to create strategies (toolpaths) for cutting your parts. But it is our expertly tailored post-processor integration that sets us apart. Post Processors are software scripts that are configured to output properly formatted NC (Numeric Control) code for your machine – bridging the gap between the toolpath creation phase and a running machine – cutting your parts, on your shop floor.
Our Post Processors ensure that your machine receives precise instructions and gives the programmer control over the cutting – what to cut, when to cut, and how to optimize each operation – resulting in a seamless transition from art-to-part. This level of control & customization not only enhances the quality of your parts but also significantly reduces production time and eliminates the risk of hand-editing your programs, allowing your team to focus on what matters most: enabling capabilities that support your mission outcomes. Each of our Applications Engineers is empowered to work with our Post Processor Engineers to tailor the NC code output of your programs and add features and functionality that give your programmers/machinists control over your manufacturing processes.
Customized Solutions for Every Machine
At Phillips Federal, we know that post-processing is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Each machine type requires specific codes, and output in the correct sequences, and our experts work closely with your team to ensure that your NC code is fully optimized for your CNC (Computer Numerical Control) or Hybrid machines. This collaboration guarantees that your machines operate at peak performance, contributing to the overall success of your mission.
“The beauty of post-processor development is we can customize the program output, creating perfectly formatted NC code for a specific machine & control type, while also providing process control to the programmer, and crucial information to the shop floor. Work instructions, tool & holder data, auxiliary coolant, or other machine functions – all these capabilities can be formatted, controlled, and configured for output to your NC code program – through the technical magic of a properly integrated Post Processor. Phillips Federal builds Post Processors for every brand and type of machine, including machine tools which we are not distributors for…” says Colin Gilchrist, our Digital Systems Product Manager here at Phillips Federal.
Empowering Your Team with Knowledge
Our instructors are experts in all aspects of machining & manufacturing processes, control systems, CAM/Conversational programming methods, and machine/software configuration.
While many vendors can handle “one piece of the puzzle” from a training perspective, Phillips provides complete end-to-end training solutions and instruction on the entire manufacturing process, including concept/design, fixturing/work-holding setup, CAM programming, how to setup tools & maintain the machine, and machining strategies.
At the end of our courses, our students are empowered with new capabilities and CAD/CAM knowledge – as evidenced by the machining of “real-world” sample parts. We focus on building foundational design and programming knowledge in CAM, NC code generation, and the setup and operation of your machines. Phillips instructors take ownership of course outcomes by training your personnel (going beyond what other vendors offer) by integrating your machines and your parts & processes into our CAM Training Courses. Phillips operationalizes CAM.
