Locks of Love

Hello Everyone, everyone I just wanted to let Partners know a little slice (in this case “cut”) of my life. I have this “Hair Curse”, lol. My hair grows fast, really really fast. I have measured it growing a foot a

year. Yeah I know. Just a couple of problems with this “Curse.” Option 1) If I want to cut and style my hair I would have to visit the Hair Stylist every month, approximately $60/visit that adds up to more than I am willing to spend on my hair. Option 2) Let my hair grow out, which is what I have been doing since I was 11 yrs old. This means that I have a lot of hair, that's very long. Since I have been growing out my hair the easiest way to keep it from tangling is up in a bun, not a very flattering style.

I donated 18 inches on Monday, Sept. 10th.

Six years ago I did a Locks-raising for Locks of Love. Yes, I did cut off three (3) feet of my hair. I also found out about what would happen to my hair.

Locks of Love makes and distributes wigs made out of human hair, to children and young adults who suffer from hair loss due to genetics, illness, disease, or medical treatment. The hair loss can be temporary or permanent.

I know that for young women, hair is very important to self image and self confidence. I felt that my “Hair Curse” can be transformed into someone else's “Hair Blessing.”

Locks of Love will accept any hair donation that is ten (10) inches or longer. If you ask your Hair Stylist they might give you a free Hair Cut when you donate.

Enjoy each and every Blessing,
Gena

  2. I enjoyed reading this story =). Not only was it a great read, I see you cut 3ft at one point! I don’t know if I would call fast growing strands a curse though Gena, I’d enjoy it!
